The short version
We collect basic web analytics (page views, referrers, anonymized IP). We use Google AdSense, which sets cookies for advertising. We don't collect, store, or sell your name, email, address, phone number, or any other personal information from calculator inputs — those values stay in your browser. If you click an affiliate link and request a quote, the contractor partner receives whatever information you provide them, not us.
Data we collect automatically
- Web analytics (Google Analytics 4): page URL, referrer, anonymized IP, browser/OS, screen size, time on page. We use this in aggregate to improve the site. We do not use any user-identifying signals.
- Server logs: standard web server access logs (IP, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) retained for 14 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Cookies: see "Cookies" below.
Data we do not collect
The values you enter into our calculators (square footage, ZIP code, project preferences) are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. They are not sent to our servers, not logged, and not stored anywhere we can retrieve. The contact form on the contact page opens your email client locally — we don't process form submissions server-side.
Cookies
- Essential cookies: none beyond what your browser sets by default.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4): a single first-party cookie used for visitor counting. Anonymous; does not contain personal information. You can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): Google places cookies to deliver and measure ads. Manage your ad personalization preferences at Google Ad Settings.
Third-party services
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymous web analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — display advertising. AdSense privacy practices.
- Affiliate networks (Networx, Modernize, EnergySage) — only invoked if you actively click a "compare local quotes" button. The respective network handles your inquiry under their own privacy policy. We receive a referral attribution but no personal information.
Your rights
If you live in California, the EU/UK, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive privacy law, you have rights to access, delete, and opt out of certain data processing. For analytics or advertising data held by Google, manage those preferences at the Google links above. For anything we hold directly (which is essentially nothing, by design), contact privacy@buildpricing.com.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when relevant practices change. The effective date at the top of the page reflects the most recent material change. Material changes will be summarized in a notice on the homepage for 30 days following any change.
